Having initially trained in Holistic Massage, Helen was introduced to Bowen by her Pilates teacher and found it so useful for deep relaxation and adjustment of imbalances physically and emotionally that she trained with the European College of Bowen Studies shortly afterwards.
Helen has worked for 9 years for NHS Lothian at The Western General and Royal Infirmary hospitals in Edinburgh treating patients, staff and family members with massage, Bowen Technique and essential oils to help with relaxation and pain control within the Complementary Health Team, working alongside the medical staff on the wards. Helen presently works at the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit teaching monthly Restorative Yoga classes.
Helen has also worked at the Post Natal Depression Services in Edinburgh where she treated new mums post- natally and their babies (and sometimes dads too!)
Helen worked for seven years within the Palliative and Pain Control Team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as the main Complementary Therapist working on all wards treating patients with varying illnesses, offering essential oils and massage with fascial release for relaxation and pain control.
In her private practice, clients come to Helen for many reasons. To reduce anxiety, improve energy and breathing patterns, help with easing muscle and joint tension, stimulation of the lymphatic system to help reduce toxins from the body either after an illness or injury or supporting a diet regime. Providing relief from the symptoms of insomnia, PMT and muscular aches and pains, she creates a safe and comfortable setting to help encourage relaxation to get the most from a session. She will encourage you to take some time out for yourself and provide the opportunity for restoring energy levels, unwind and release held tension.
Certifications
Helen trained with the European College of Bowen Studies and she holds a certificate in Advanced Disclosure Scotland and has an up-to-date First Aid Certificate. She is fully insured with Holistic Insurance Services www.holisticinsurance.co.uk
Bowen within Palliative Care
November 2018 - Helen trained with the European College of Bowen Studies in Palliative Care treatment to support patients at the Western General Hospital and the Macmillan Cancer Centre as Bowen Therapist within the Complementary Therapy Team.
